Re: What was the most stressful component of your build? 22Mar 02, 2012 8:00 am When we bought the land, 970m2 block in Pakenham we asked the developer to change the crossover from the left side to the right side of the property. They did this for us, for a cost of course, when the land was developed the crossover was laid and we were happy. 8 months later and its time to start building our plumber puts in the application to SE water to have the water meter installed and its only now that we find out the water pipes laid to service our property is right under our crossover. We now have to dig up part of our crossover, re-tap the connection and then lay a new crossover all at our expense because nobody thought to tell us at the time. Its not what you would call a major problem but it interrupts the whole flow we had going and causes delays we just don't want or need. It's disheartening to see just how many people are willing to over charge for their services. But once in a while we get someone who puts in that extra mile and restores our faith in human generosity. You flashing and weepholes are not installed at the right level, if you want you can email me few pictures before you ring anyone, but im sure you have a problem there. Better fix it. The worst thing you can do is sign a building contract without a pre contract review. Over the years many people have come to me with disputes where they just signed… 0 8351 Thank you. That is really helpful. Once we get the place done and passed for OC we can upgrade in the future once we get back on our feet and not paying mortgage and rent. 4 5745 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17628 |
