It sure would make getting competitive quotes easier instead of wading through the hundreds of suppliers out there and sending out countless RFQs. Sometimes the cheapest price is VERY appropriate on essentially the same product - like aluminum windows and doors - however much suppliers may want to argue that that is not the case. Other times, at least OBs can compare quotes based on other criteria, which of course may be just as important. It would increase the buying power for OB and let suppliers know that there IS volume in this market. I bought a large screen TV recently where I was able to take copies of receipts which other forum posters had achieved. It was very easy to get HN, JB etc to match. I saved $600, got 5yrs warranty and hardly had to try for it. A forum attached to such a OB Opportunity site would encourage competition and achieve lower prices for OBs. Re: Website/s where suppliers can bid for OB listings? 6Jan 16, 2012 8:01 pm Well, consumers have never been better informed because of the Net...get used to it getting more so Its up to the customer demand to drive better competition ... and better prices. That is how builders get better prices and respect from suppliers. Any supplier who doesn't want that or who doesn't want to compete and supply will be swamped by those suppliers that can and do. Via Competition. You sound like a supplier d@n. Re: Website/s where suppliers can bid for OB listings? 7Jan 16, 2012 8:17 pm I have no stake in the OB vs supplier game. I'm just giving you the real world perspective. Look at gerry's (Hardly Normal) dislike for the internet. They don't want competition or consumers with powers to bargain. Every other retailer is the same. The more of the market they own, the more they make. Re: Website/s where suppliers can bid for OB listings? 8Jan 16, 2012 8:35 pm Fortunately for the consumer, the retail front model that has made him $1B+ off the toil of hardworking Aussies is fast going the way of the dinosaurs ... no wonder he is grumpy ... and that he has been forced to compete for consumer business with an online presence. But back to the original question, surely they are some websites where one can advertise opportunities to supply. Anyone?
