Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum Re: New project in the Hawkesbury 21Jul 19, 2012 8:04 pm Good luck with excavation tomorrow! Thankfully the weather has held up and the ground should be nice and dry for it. FYI.... Buy some decent gumboots for both you and little Miss. It gets muddy real quickly with a little rain. So, have you spec'd everything out for the entire build or are you still looking for suppliers of stuff? Re: New project in the Hawkesbury 22Jul 21, 2012 9:51 pm Well, I am so excited to say we have started. The slab site for the house is almost level and part of the driveway entrance has been cut in. The plan is Mon / Tues to drill piers and fill as they go along due to the softness of the soil. With a bit of luck the piers will be finished and the form work will be in place by the end of this week. Vess - Miss G already has boots and I have my pink steel capped boots to wear out there. Today we went and sources baths, toots and vanities so that I can draw up the plans for the plumber. With a bit of luck we'll have a slab poured in 3 weeks. The kit arrives 24th August so it will be all hands on deck to unload the trucks. Will upload finalised plans and some site photos tomorrow. Too tired tonight Re: New project in the Hawkesbury 23Jul 23, 2012 1:07 pm Here are the plans: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Artist Impression: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Getting Started on a frosty morning: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ House site almost level: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Driveway entrance cut out: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The driveway will go out further (where the white chalk marks are) and then taper in. Today they are finishing the house site prep and also doing the shed site prep which means that the pier work will start tomorrow. Re: New project in the Hawkesbury 25Jul 24, 2012 7:33 am Vess - We are doing a timber frame with brick veneer. We are using PGH Van Gogh bricks with Woodland Grey roof & gutters. Windows are in wideline pottery and downpipes are in paperbark (I think, its either that or Sandbank LOL) Yesterday we had the shed site prepared Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And the house site is all marked out for piering today Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: New project in the Hawkesbury 26Jul 25, 2012 7:33 pm We used the sandstock brick Greenway as a feature brick. So much character in those bricks. Guessing that you are doing a colour bond roof given it is woodland grey. We have woodland grey too. What colour fascia are you doing? I imagine it would be same as downpipes to match bricks???? So many milestones to look forward to. Pier holes next! Re: New project in the Hawkesbury 27Jul 28, 2012 1:28 pm Vess, yes we are doing a colourbond roof. The Faschias are going to be in Woodland Grey as well. 96 pier holes are done and filled and the form work was started Plumber due on site Tuesday so this weekend I need to finalise the plans for his work. DH informed me that our shed site (8m x 17m) is almost the same size as our old house :O Re: New project in the Hawkesbury 29Aug 01, 2012 11:53 pm How exciting! It's all real now. Our owner-builder journey - viewtopic.php?f=38&t=45187 Re: New project in the Hawkesbury 30Aug 03, 2012 1:57 pm Thanks Tam. It is all starting to happen. Had a few delays this week (our plumber was far too organised for the concretors LOL) so hopefully we will pour the slabs mid - end of next week. Re: New project in the Hawkesbury 31Aug 04, 2012 6:09 am Yay!!! It is progressing really well. Little delays you don't mind given some of the weeks on end these project builders don't do anything on site. House next door has been quiet all week. A lone plumber spent a day and then the bricks were delivered but that's it. We have a move in date - Mon 13 Aug. not even the last milestone really. Retaining walls and fences are next then pool and cubbyhouse. I'm sure it will go on for the next 12mths. Crossing everything for continued sunny weather for the slab pour. I'll check back towards end of next week to see what's been happening. Re: New project in the Hawkesbury 33Aug 09, 2012 8:35 pm Hi Vess. Stage 1 pour tomorrow with all ticks from certifier, engineer and surveyor. Monday the terminesh guy will be back to treat the front section if the slab and mums waste pipes. The rest of the slab is due to be finished on Tuesday. Awesome that you have a move in date I can't wait for ours lol Re: New project in the Hawkesbury 34Aug 10, 2012 9:00 pm Emmsiek Hi Vess. Haven't had to be too concerned with weather for roughly 10wks but now I'm checking the weather again days in advance. It didn't look good earlier today. It was soooo windy. Wondered if I was still going to have a roof at the end of the day. All the external plumbing work was finished including putting in our large sewer pump. We took delivery of the container to store things in and our builder who is helping out marked the framework out on the slab. Friday the 31st was a big day. Not only did DD turn 2 but we took delivery of Stage 1. We needed to get a police escort to close off the bridge to get the trucks across. DH and I were there so we could see. Everything went very smoothly and they were across in less than 2 minutes. Yesterday they started standing the frame. They did a fabulous job and got 2/3's of it done!!! They have an extra pair of hands helping today and will get the rest of it done and then start attaching it to the slab and nailing it off properly DH has the photos on his phone so I'll upload a couple when he gets home tonight. Poor thing had to go to work after he finished on site yesterday. DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair That laser level looks lovely! We bought one for less than a quarter of that price off eBay.
