It is such a great pantry. On the other side I have all my small appliances, cook books, picnic stuff, medicines, shopping bags, etc. I still have the drawers empty and not much under the bench on the other side yet so still plenty of room. We ordered the bar stools that I had posted earlier only to find out a few days later that they had been discontinued so after looking at every possible bar stool we decided just to get the same as what we had previously (our old ones were black) We got all 4 delivered for less than what 1 of the others cost. So they are not fantastic but will do the job for a few years hopefully. I'm glad I went with white, they blend in rather than stand out. The glass has been installed in the decking balustrade this morning. Please excuse all the painting that still needs to be done. All the posts will be painted in domino. DH made the balustrade. It was his first ever attempt at welding. He did a pretty good job, I think. Glass splashback finally ordered today so should be in soon. Looking forward to the kitchen being complete. Next job is to find an outdoor setting for the deck. Re: Rocketship's build... 608Oct 02, 2012 5:05 pm fanastic! I thought we were going to see more tupperware though. Love the balustrade. As for your stools, now I am really interested. They are the sort of thing I had in mind. DH wanted a back rest, but I am going to show him your photos and see what he thinks. How much were 4 of them, if you don't mind me asking? And from where? Re: Rocketship's build... 611Oct 19, 2012 10:25 am Thanks larah1, your place is looking fantastic. So kiwi - I am still here. Haven't posted as much but still secretly stalking, although many of the builds I was following have now been completed so might have to search for some more new ones!! Haven't posted on my own thread because not much happening. Waiting on some concreting to be finished, hoping to start some landscaping soon, waiting on splashback. We haven't done much because now we are in, we don't feel rushed to do everything quickly - it is a long term project! I did purchase some new pillows for our bed and 1 black shaggy cushion. Do they qualify for the green thread Dee?? Re: Rocketship's build... 612Oct 19, 2012 2:19 pm Well-the bit of black doesn't....but you know what they say about once you've had black............ Splashback was installed Monday morning, looks great. No fancy, way out colour - just white but looks great. Very happy. Only took one photo but will have to take one that shows the whole kitchen - better do the dishes first!!! After a very very long weekend we have 125m of turf down, more to come but it is a really good start... it didn't happen without drama... I have really tried to keep this thread focused on the positive stuff but this build hasn't been completely smooth sailing without dramas along the way... the preparation for laying of the turf had to be the biggest by far and made most of the other dramas seem pretty insignificant. I would rather not go into details here but an accident here on Saturday morning resulted in my father in law breaking his femur, ambulance being called and an operation to fix his leg Saturday night. I am happy to say he is home now and starting his long recovery but WOW!! It was a crazy, massive weekend both physically and emotionally. Will try and get some more photos over the weekend. Re: Rocketship's build... 616Oct 25, 2012 2:22 pm Oh blimey Rocketship, sounds like you've been through the mill there. Hope his recovery goes smoothly, poor chap. And hope the rest of your turf laying goes smoothly too! Kitchen looks fabulous as ever! Vess - thigh bone. It's a very strong bone. Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17517 thank you! do we need to get this or our builder before we commence new build on the block? 2 10404 Hi, did you get any money from insurance? if you did, does it match what you've already paid the builders? 3 9559 |
