It's something about - not telling them you want the gas turned off, but that you want it moved. That way they don't charge you the disconnection fee, and the reconnection fee - or maybe it's the other way around - that you don't tell them you want it moved, that you want it disconnected and then reconnected somewhere else...... I just know I heard that one way you get charged, the other way it's free. Anyone know? Thanks! The Gas company actually come out and dig your gas lines up. From memory it cost about $1k. I dont know of any "tricks" if you are demolishing then rebuilding.
