Re: Tips on Pegging Out ? 4Apr 24, 2011 7:48 pm Surely a simple rectangular floor plan ( 8.4 x 3.4M) should not be too difficult. I can understand a regular house design with many angles and directions will need a 'tradies' touch but I am hoping to accomplish mine without too much drama. Admittedly I have an existing house to work of as I am building a 'granny' beside it. Re: Tips on Pegging Out ? 5Apr 24, 2011 8:24 pm While fairhavens, i do agree with you. However for new properties where you have slope and elevations involved I bet many people will get it wrong. Its not simply about putting the tap on the ground etc. Its amazing how many people cant even hold a measuring tape correctly. I have been told by builders that even though they can do the set out they wont. Simply because the liability is too much if they get it wrong. Re: Tips on Pegging Out ? 6Apr 24, 2011 8:33 pm We did the set out of our place and 12 other houses. They aren't very big houses, and some of them where easier then others. But none of them were wrong. And none of us had done anything like this before. My recommendations would be to work out what all the measurements are, and have them written on a list instead of off the plan. And yes, bring a helper and a spend money on a good quality long measuring tape. We did the mark out of the slab and put up the frame ourselves as well. ~W~ Building our forever home - Lilium Estate Clyde - Land due May 2019 Built our first home - Pakenham - 2011 Re: Tips on Pegging Out ? 7Apr 24, 2011 10:16 pm Put the pegs in and then cross check, literally. That is, check the diagonals add up to what you expect and make sure that each peg has at least two independent references that confirm it's position. If your land is flat, a little common sense and care will get you far. I assume you have some survey pegs (or suitable hard references) to go from.
