Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Mar 22, 2011 7:35 pm Hi There, I am new to this forum so please let me know if I do anything I shouldn't We have been renovating an old queensland, it was placed highset and we had the top section of the house approved by the council and a Certificate of Habitat was completed. We decided to 'build in' underneath the house for car parking and storage, the height limit is 2.7 metres under the house. We engaged the servies of a private building certifier and the framework was inspected and passed. We had the concrete slab placed down but did not get the termite pest control work completed as we were not aware that it had to be done at the time of the slab construction. We have since spoken to Termite Test Exprts and they have advised that they can still do the work and give us a Form 16 which is required for the building certifer. However, the building certifier has told us that we have to have a 15mm step from the concrete slab of the house goign down into the concrete slab of the laundry area. We have a slight incline going down to the laundry area but not a step. Can anyone give me any advice on how I can rectify this? The building certifer basically told us that we were stuck and that we would have to go through the BSA to work it out. We are stressed out now as we are thinking that we will never get this completed and finalised. Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated.
