Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Aug 22, 2010 11:58 am Hi there, I intend to document the building of our new house in the hills on the forums, as I find it helps to keep motivation up.
Both myself and my wife come from the hills, we moved down into suburbia around 8 years ago, and approx a year ago I just snapped due to lack of space. So in feburary we purchased a 5 acre block up in Gidgegannup to build our dream home on, plus a HUGE shed for myself. The block is pure bush, so we have started clearing the area and preparing for the massive build that we will be undertaking over the next 2 years. The house is going to be large, but we intend to do it right the first time. We have tried to plan out for every possible future scenario (eg: pool on the left hand side of the house, need an additional WC on that side of the house to avoid walking all the way through the house with wet feet). 5 bedroom 3 bathroom 5 car (we have a few cars) 512m inc garages. The plans are currently with the draftsman and I should have them very soon, so as soon as I have them I will put them up. Re: Owner Building Perth Hills - Huge 512m2 2Aug 22, 2010 2:33 pm Im looking forward to following your build. Your plans are great, very unique. We have a 4 car garage in the works in suburbia, which means we have no land. But hubby wouldnt compromise that, I wouldnt compromise suburbia Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Wishing you all the best for your build. +1 I would love a cellar but it would always be empty Memphis, love your block. Looking forward to watching your dream turn into reality Re: Owner Building Perth Hills - Huge 512m2 6Aug 23, 2010 10:42 pm Looks fantastic, love all the space. Given all the bedrooms it looks like you have kids - perhaps a dedicated study/PC room would be handy? Or at least a bigger 'nook' area for the computer(s). Re: Owner Building Perth Hills - Huge 512m2 7Aug 25, 2010 3:01 am welcome to the forum. love the split garages very unique great design cant wait to see the progress congrats to you both stay safe happy building Re: Owner Building Perth Hills - Huge 512m2 8Aug 30, 2010 10:34 pm Hey memphis, I do like your house design and that shed that is just bloody huge you must have lots of toys. Cheers Heath Re: Owner Building Perth Hills - Huge 512m2 9Aug 30, 2010 10:52 pm Love the block, love the design...and yes, love the cellar. Just make sure the cellar walls are insulated from the heat of the oven/kitchen...need to keep that wine cool for the five minutes that it might last in there . I have a quote of $7500 for 200m2 of concrete, 100mm thick with reo, I thought that was not too bad. Re: Owner Building Perth Hills - Huge 512m2 15Sep 16, 2010 12:29 pm memphis Hi There The tank will be a Rhino tank, 131,941 ltr so approx 9m wide. holy cow your tanks wider then our house lol stay safe happy building Re: Owner Building Perth Hills - Huge 512m2 17Sep 16, 2010 3:29 pm Wow that is one amazing house plan Memphis!!!!! A couple of questions: How long is your Islan Bench in the kitchen? looks like there is lots of space either side where you could extend it. How are you planning to set up furniture in the Winter room? With the door in the centre it could be tricky to place things and leave ample room to act as a entrance way. PS: love the wine celler and ensuite! I was a little disappointed my original ensuite design suffered some setbacks due to space restrictions but we didnt want to increase the floorarea so my vanity could be 500mm longer. The center room is 9mtrs wide so we should have ample furniture room, even with the doors in the middle. The outbuilding is actually a detached office, it was drawn as a granny flat as we will most likely live out of it until the rest of the house is built. Re: Owner Building Perth Hills - Huge 512m2 19Sep 16, 2010 3:48 pm I guess you will have enough room! Its just the proportions that have thrown me! Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title, you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves, to see if they will allow… 1 11035 Thanks again Simeon for being so elaborate. Appreciate it. Its gives us a very idea. Kind Regards 4 3666 Can anyone give me any onfo on New Homes WA? Good or bad, hopefully good just need to know if my choice was good or not? Thanks ❤️ 0 8938 |
