Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Mar 05, 2011 8:31 pm Our carpenter has asked us to mark out the wall studs on the floor, so to help him when installing skirting boards. We were planning on first painting the walls, then installing the timber flooring and then having the skirtings installed. What is the standard way of marking out the wall studs? I was thinking of marking on the floor, then once Walls are painted put stickers on the walls. Does this sound like a good idea or are there better ways? You don't need to paint this low as it will be covered by the skirting so you will still see the mark after painting and floor. Your chippy should be able to work it out from there. Or just stick a piece of masking tape to wall higher up if necessary before he gets there.
