Well it has been a while, a very long while since I have had anything good to say about our house build but as of the last few days I can say that we are starting to feel more confident again .... and dare I say it, I am enjoying it again!
My guardian angel has been my bricklayer who is now project managing the whole thing for me. He is doing odd bits and pieces as we go along but generally he is taking the helm and I know that I can leave any problem for him to sort. What I appreciate most is his 'can do attitude and the time he gives me when he sees I am feeling wobbly!
So where are we now. Well we have all the windows installed bar two and two doors. Also the large one at the back of the house is being made so should be in in a week or so. We have ordered the staircase which is an amazing tasmanian oak staircase with stainless steel and is to die for. Our stainless balcony railing is made and been positioned. The loft is nearly fully boarded and I got the bargain of the century for a kitchen up there. I paid 5k for a very very smart kitchen with all the appliances, soft closing drawers and all the business. It is an ex dispaly model and low voc etc. The plastering is nearly done upstairs and is done downstairs. We now just need it white set and the lower ceilings done. The bathrooms will be screeded next week and then I suppose the tiling can start!
We are off tomorrow to agree on the kitchen although I still need to choose a cooker and fridge. Oh and I forgot to mention we have a floor all polished although I think we need one more visit from the ONc for finishing touches! I am in love with my floor!
We have a turret in one of the bedrooms and the dorky carpenter completely stuffed it up, we now have a new carpenter and in a day he got the most amazing amount of work done and fixed my turret. I am so pleased.
My mindset has also changed. I am in no hurry to get into my house, I want my house to be beautiful and finished and then I can feel happy about moving in.
thank goodness I am finally at this point but boy what a painful ride. Can somebody remind me that it will be worth it in the end!
