Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Mar 04, 2011 11:00 am This is why, Hubby bumped into an older guy the other day who was attempting to put up their component home, yes the business went bust, yes he did manage to get most of his kit, not all but framework and roof, they did not give him an instruction book, well who would while they ran out the door with his cash. Now my question is to all you guys, has anybody got a book out there? We need to know about he thermal break and where it should go with blue board and how much the blue board went past the bottom frame. If anyone could help that would be great as hubby is going to help the poor guys out and at least get them to lock up. They managed to get the frames up, and they got a roofing comany in the do the roof which there was bits missing so they have had to use the parts the best they could to make a roof but I feel so sorry for them having to try and build at their time of life, he also is in an arm cast so only one hand to use. Thanks guys Jenny Re: Has anybody built with component homes Wangara? 2Mar 04, 2011 11:36 am Hi Jenny, sorry no instructions for you, but a little bit of help. If you go to the James Hardie website, you will find very good technical details. Look for Hardie Tex (the name for blueboard) then the technical specification PDF. It will contain all the info you need. Just to answer a few questions. The vapour permeable barrier (wall wrap) fits to the outside of the studs then the blueboard fixes straight over that. The maximum overhang for the blueboard at the bottom of the frame is 100mm. But you need to make sure it is clear of the ground. If you have any other questions fell free to ask.
