How would you fix this hole in the door?
stick a large plaque or coat hook over it on a batten (if at the right height)
or you could fill with builders bog, sand & paint the whole door
cheers
How much do you think they would deduct from our bond if we leave the door as it is?
Thank you all.

As much as it costs to fix it. No more no less.
Which may be $400 - $500 once you buy the door have it hung and painted. Maybe a bit more.
Why not call a local handyman and get a quote? Maybe you can source a similar door from a Salvage yard? Still needs to be fitted properly but at least you will have the same door as looking at that looks like a 1960's or '70's number and it may be very hard to match the same timber with a door off the shelf
PS: Who got angry?
Then a handy man to re mount it. Might need a clean up on the hinge side and also to patch the hole in the jamb. You'll have to make a new hole in the jamb for the striker.
I'll take a guess & say $375-400 from the bond
