Hi all,
I was wondering if any one could comment on my calculations.
I have a house on east west axis and a full length verandah on the north side.
2.1m Full length windows 30cm above ground and 2.7m high ceilings.
If my verandah was 1.5m wide, am I going to get any winter sun in?
Based on, For north-facing windows, eaves width should be 0.45 times (45%) the height measured from the bottom of the window to the eaves., which I got through a gov website, I should have 1.08m verandah.
The verandah has to stay for aesthetic reasons, so if I shorten it to 1.2m, would it look silly? The first thing people see driving past is the verandah, so it needs to look good, but functional. Any ideas on how to get that winter sun in.
Thanks
