Stewie
As for the Tiles Stewie there is a reason. (A few actually)
We are laying the original style "Tessellated Geometric" tiles in the wet areas. These firstly cost quite a lot both in purchase and install so each m2 not needed will save me a fair bit of $$$ (Which means more beer for the site fridge) But seriously as they would never be seen no point putting them in.
Second reason is you may notice a cutout or hole in the kicker under my cabinets. That is an outlet for my Gas Heating. I pre-laid a Pipe in the slab which comes up under the cabinet and the kicker is acting as the last bit of my "Ducting" into the room.
Third Reason is the design of these geometric tiles have borders on them so the border will follow the room edges and also follow around the cabinets.
And Lastly the Kickers and walls will be tiled with a Skirting tile (In our case one row of black tiles and the wall tiles mainly white with some decorative bits) That Black tile acts as a skirting around the room to break the floor form the wall design (As per pic below)
Heres a picture of the Floor design we are laying which may help explain it better. Laying these tiles is a bit like a jigsaw puzzle. Each tile is laid one at a time so a bit of an art to putting these down hence the added cost factor. Hope that makes sense.
Cheers
