Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Sep 05, 2010 1:51 pm I am trying to get somewhat ahead of myself and am starting to think about getting my doors sorted. I really want to get them spray painted (two pack?) as I am told this is the best way to go. Where does one organise this in Perth and where is the best place to look for door furniture? I have seen something I like at Bunnings but surely there must be more to door handles that Bunnings ... although I have to say I liked the price! Would be fab to see what others have done. Re: doors and door handles (internal) 2Sep 05, 2010 1:55 pm I'd like to have our overheads sprayed as well. Can't help you with the door handles though, although one furniture shop in outer Melbourne told me they sell them, but they didn't have a great range either. Have you looked into having your doors sprayed? Would love to hear what kind of quotes you were able to get and if it's easier or cheaper just to replace them instead Dear J.K. Rowling, Your books are entirely unrealistic. I mean, a ginger kid with two friends? Sincerely, Anonymous Re: doors and door handles (internal) 3Sep 05, 2010 11:43 pm Kay, I'm a carpenter so I can give you some info on doors and hardware. M&B sales in bayswater have a good range of handles on display at their Bayswater display centre. They also sell doors from Corinthians and Hume. Personally I get my doors and hardware from Jay's doors in Balcatta. They can get whatever you want and have good prices and service. Not a bad display, but not as comprehensive as M&B. Maybe check out what you want then give Jay's a call for price. As far as the 2 pack goes, you will need to get your doors fitted then send them off to be 2 packed. I know a place that sprays kitchen doors, I guess they would do regular doors if needed. If you want any advice you can PM me. Another place to visit to add to my list. I will sort the doors and then get the number off you. What are you doing with reference to doors and painting? Went to our site today and formworkers are the messiest buggers on the planet, nails and nonsense everywhere .... ggggrrrrrr! Re: doors and door handles (internal) 5Sep 28, 2010 12:03 am Check out Gainsborough for door furniture. Good solid stuff. Modern and traditional designs. My Bunnings only has a few Gainsborough and Lemaaar handles on display, but they will order any from the catalogues. We had to get dummy handles for our wardrobs to match our door handles. Bunnings didn't stock them, but ordered them in and they were the cheapest. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: doors and door handles (internal) 7Oct 01, 2010 8:32 am I purchased a german brand of spray gun (cant remember name or model) from bunnings for about $250, this was the best thing I ever bought as I did all of my doors in gloss painted my walls etc and the best thing was very little overspray providing there is little wind... I did them outside and they look great. Also you mix the paint with 10% water and there are never blockages and it comes with a small compressor like a reverse vacuum.. Good luck Re: doors and door handles (internal) 8Nov 22, 2010 11:16 pm Are you talking ALL doors throughout the house K? How do you think the kids will go scratching them? Hubby just had one of his employees (he is a carpenter by trade) tell him not to let me have my 2 pak kitchen as the kids will end up making it look like crap. I put hubby back in his place and told him if any one of them come near my kitchen there will be no food for them from my kitchen ever again! Can I ask why 2pak doors? Have you seen it done somewhere else? I can understand wardrobes and whatnot, but normal doors are something i've not heard of before? You going flush doors? Let me know how you go with handles, i've not found any I like yet. Not sure about doors either, it seems so expensive to upgrade them and they're just a door. Re: doors and door handles (internal) 9Nov 23, 2010 12:29 am We are getting the doors painted this way because apparently they come out nicer. However it will all be dependent on price. I am sooooooo with you on door handles ... boring. Most of our doors will be wooden with glass so it will only be the few that dont have it that will be painted. Not there yet so when i know the cost i will let you know. We are only going for the bog standard boring plain ones where we are not having the fancy type! Re: doors and door handles (internal) 10Nov 23, 2010 12:33 am Have you found some nice wood/glass ones? That is what I wanted in the living areas and possibly the master bedroom as well, but just couldn't find anything nice. Much like the front door. It's amazing how hard each tiny little detail is! Re: doors and door handles (internal) 11Nov 23, 2010 8:07 am MrsGreen I put hubby back in his place and told him if any one of them come near my kitchen there will be no food for them from my kitchen ever again! Perfectly put Mrs Green. My two-pack doors have just been finished...love, love is all I can say. Don't necessarily shy away from Bunnings for door handles...they have a bigger range than my cabinet-maker. Kitchen going in tomorrow. We saw it in the workshop on Monday and loving it. Will have pics by the end of the week (hopefully earlier). Sorry I can't recommend one or the other so best to rely on comments… 5 3328 3 4071 Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 8059 |
