Whoa what a couple of weeks. Some of you may have gathered that we have parted ways with the project manager. In fact we are rather perplexed it came to this whilst clearly very relieved!!! He just seemed happy enough to go, even came prepared with all our stuff to hand back.
We have been lucky enough to secure the services of a friend (here we go again!) who is carpenter and in a previous life has an HND in engineering from UK. We always wanted him to work on the house for us as we have seen examples of his work and it is perfect to say the least but the numbers never lined up. When we needed him, they did! He will be working for us full time until the end of Jan.
What he has found so far:
* the lintels to support entire loft were wrong
* bricks on final course were the wrong ones and would not allow for chemical anchors
* stairs would block windows
* drawings dont match up or make sense
* windows not centred
* the list goes on and on
We feel like such fools but we really were paying very good money to someone who came recommended. We paid a significant fee at the commencement of every stage for nothing. I mean I cant believe I didnt pick up on lots of the things that our new site manager has corrected. Gggggrrrrrr
But on the positive side, our house is progressing now and we see changes everyday which is just awesome and we finally feel like we have something happening.
This experience of the last two weeks is more akin to what I thought should happen, not the nonsense we have endured. Onwards and upwards.
