I Love the stairs, I hope mine end up looking half as good as that, well done Why the rush to move in though? Is your rental lease up or are you just keen to get in the door? https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=44762 My Owner builder journey extending a 1930's Bungalow Re: Chippy's Build. Kitchen, flooring, it's all happening! P 122Aug 18, 2011 9:00 am Very nice, thanks for taking the time to share. I was curious what is the difference between painting a water proof coating versus laying down a plastic barrier under the wood floor? I haven't seen the water proof coating done. Re: Chippy's Build. Kitchen, flooring, it's all happening! P 123Aug 18, 2011 9:03 am Hi Rob. Our lease is up on Sept 1 so next weekend is the last weekend to move. Plus, paying rent and mortgage is a killer. We need to get moved so I can start working on jobs that actually pay me. The work I've done our place is saving us a bomb, but unfortunately it doesn't pay the bills. Kitchen, flooring, it's all happening! P 124Aug 18, 2011 9:09 am Hi Don. Over in WA most plank flooring is laid direct stick, where the flooring is stuck straight to the concrete. You have to use the painted moisture barrier in this situation. Sika make a fantastic MB for this job. It's a 2 part epoxy and puts on a nice thick barrier. It actually looks very nice on its own, like a glassy blue ocean. Kitchen, flooring, it's all happening! P 126Aug 29, 2011 10:03 am We are in!!! Still plenty to do to finish it off but we have been sleeping in the new house for 2 nights. The driveway went in on Tuesday, and I'm very happy with my DIY exposed concrete. I'll post up some pictures of the process when I can. The floors are all sanded and polished and the carpet went in on Thursday. Curtains went up on friday. I still have to install all the cupboard doors and drawer fronts. Install skirting down stairs and build and install our front door (our front door at the moment consists of a sheet of MDF screwed into the frame). Once we get everything cleaned up and get a decent internet connection I'll post some pics for you all. Not finished, but almost. 127Aug 31, 2011 12:21 am lovely home Chippy, well done! those stairs r really something - that boxing in is outstanding - i love the idea of the solid concrete but with the real wool finish truely lovely. i did similar with heavy pine trusses suspended over the living room and boxed in with jarrah - everyone comments on the 240 X 240 jarrah rafters only about 1 in 500 people can pick the joinery...... again a lovely home look foreward to the final pic gallery. cheers tony. Re: Chippy's Build. We're in! Not finished, but almost. 129Sep 05, 2011 12:33 pm Thanks Tony and Darrell. I've still got to get the last bits finished so I can get some photo's up. Problem is I'm flat out catching up on jobs I put on hold so we could get in and haven't had time to do anything on our place. It'll probably be a few weeks before I can get really stuck in to the last bits. Then I still have the outside........ SENSATIONAL!!! those stairs are truely devine!! cant wait to see pics of your driveway, as you know we are also on a battleaxe and i have been looking at different methods other than paving to give it that edge! top job done on this house, and i love how you will actually get to reep the benefeits of your handywork rather than leaving it for others to admire when you work on other peoples houses!! more pics please!!!
