Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 May 30, 2010 9:54 pm Hi all after much running around with builders. We have decided to become OB ourselves. Going through building application a the moment. So now I am trying to get quotes for all different things for my project. I want to get the house to lock up stage by tradies (including plaster), the rest I am going to do it myself apart from the kitchen of course So anyone of you OB out there that have came across good honest tradies PLEASE let us know. So far I have a chippy and a sparky. I still need a plumber brickie and concreter Re: OB in S E suburb of Melbourne 2May 30, 2010 10:22 pm where are you building? I can recommend a Plumber & concreter + another sparky if you wish to compare quotes? Are you going stick or prefab for the frame or maybe steel? I went prefab for our frame and it was great, everything just slotted in exactly where it should have gone. Very easy to deal with too. Good luck Dirk Re: OB in S E suburb of Melbourne 3Jun 01, 2010 1:11 am Hi Dirk. I am building in the Rowville area, have become OB because builder have dragged on since February, took his advice that I would have the house to lock up stage in 4mths. Demolished the house in November till last month he gave me the contract that no way in hell I would sign. Anyway I am building in Rowville, so if you have any good honest tradies please pass them on I would love to get quote from them. I am after a plumber that will see me from start to finish, someone who specialise in maximisng harvesting rain water, and a concreter to do my slab. my friend is a sparky so he is going to take care of that department for me which is a big load off my shoulder. Yes I am going with the prefab too which I believe is the right way for us. Thanks for your support! I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 45550 It's all about wireless, self install now. The cost/benefit of wired setups for the house are no longer what they used to be. Lots of wireless options.
