Just wondering whether anyone has used this and was it worth while?

Yes things are usually bought cheaper than retail but if you do some homework you may be able to get some good deals and be able to choose exactly what you want from retail. I have bought things on Grays but nothing that I was such a bargain. Also they are not usually the best company to deal with when there are issues. remember there is delivery and buyers premium added to the price. Also be weary about ORP prices that they state. If a TV sold for 5K a year ago but now new models sell for $2500 that have the same if not better features they would of course state an ORP of $5000 but you need to do your reseach and say well to me that only worth 2000 in todays market. Re: graysonline 3May 19, 2010 10:21 pm thanks for that. that is what I thought! The haggler in me will come out! Re: graysonline 4May 19, 2010 10:22 pm Yep sure have and definitely worthwhile. Just make sure you do your homework first and see how much you can purchase the item for from a retailer. Also make sure what you are aware of exactly what you are buying: brand new, refurb, seconds, etc Finally, don't forget to factor in the buyer's premium and delivery costs. Happy hunting! Re: graysonline 5May 19, 2010 10:37 pm As already stated, watch out for buyer premiums and inflated delivery costs. And the ORP that they state in the listings are are rediculous so pay no attention to them at all. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, and professionals built the Titanic." Re: graysonline 6May 20, 2010 10:17 am I loved Grays when we were building. Yes you have to know your prices - but that is the same with any purchase. We bought all our caesarstone for the kitchen and laundry when the actual company discontinued the colours - luckily for me they were the colours I loved. We got 6 slabs of stone delivered for under $1000 - my kitchen maker almost had heart failure when I told him. He told me he couldn't get it wholesale for under $6-7K. We also got our kitchen appliances from a closing down of a business. Again around 1/4 price of retail for each item - and when you think the range alone was over $10k retail it made it more then worthwhile. These items all came with warranty so no worries there. We have also bought untold amounts of plants / trees from nurseries. Bought gorgeous front door handles which retailed for $700 for $100 - unfortunately it was before we changed the plans to have double front doors so they were no longer able to be used (quite simply because I refused to pay $700 for the matching set!!) The main issue we have is now it is becoming quite a popular site and the prices are no longer as cheap as they once were - but every now and then something will still go at a bargain price. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: graysonline 10May 24, 2010 10:11 pm ive used grays several times got some amazing bargains and stuffed up on a few items we could have got cheaper elsewhere but that was our fault not theirs. their online prices are way more then you can get by going there in person stay safe happy building |
