Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum Re: Can anyone help please? 2May 05, 2010 10:01 pm Not sure about down there in Melbourne but up here in Sydney I looked at both Clive Peters and Good Guys and found my best luck was with the Harvey Norman Clearance/Outlet Centre. I didn't actually buy anything "on clearance" but they happily ordered in exactly what I wanted and a lot cheaper than the other places could offer me. Extending & Renovating Re: Can anyone help please? 3May 05, 2010 10:09 pm I don't think you can go wrong with the big stores, but always ask for their best price. Our local Good Guys in Preston (Northland shopping centre) is pretty good. Their prices are negotiable. I remember getting a good deal on our tv years ago. Re: Can anyone help please? 4May 06, 2010 12:16 am You're lucky to be in a bigger city like Melbourne - there are lots of great bargains to be had! I'd look at the big retailers to see what brands and specific items you like and then keep your eye out in the paper for closing down or clearance sales. When we did our kitchen I bought our oven, cooktop, rangehood, sink & dishwasher all from individual retailers as I saw them on sale & saved at least 50% on each item, I'm now doing the same for our bathrooms ... it takes a little patience but we've saved thousands. Check out a place called Builders Bargains at Mitcham or Springvale, I had my eye on a few of their bathroom items and was even considering freighting from them to us in Adelaide. I've just done the same from Sydney for the toilets that I liked and saved almost $700 for two. Good luck and happy shopping Re: Can anyone help please? 5May 06, 2010 3:17 am pick out what you want exactly brand and model numbers go to all 3 and get prices then go back to each one and ask them to better the others keep doing this till they finally say thats our last offer you can get anywhere from 20-40% off and well worth the effort ive found harvey norman to be the best at trying to get your buisness. stay safe happy building Re: Can anyone help please? 6May 06, 2010 8:05 pm We have a contact through Clive Peters in Thomastown - having a chat with the Managers tomorrow actually If you live near there, PM me and I can tell you who we deal with.
