Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Mar 28, 2010 10:25 am Hi all I am looking at this company, based in Qld, for their external wall cladding for insulating our planned house. http://www.ceilite.com.au (not involved with them in any way) They use EPS, so is effectively a foam panel for your wall. Similar products by R-max, Masterwall etc. I am looking at 650sqm of external cladding, and theyre price is about $17-18 /m. I dont know what prices any of the other, is others can share, thatd be great! So if anyone has any dealings with them, can you let me know about your experiences with them Thanks Jarrad Re: External Foam Cladding - Ceilite Insulation 2Mar 28, 2010 2:12 pm Hi Jarrad We are using the KoolWall insulated cladding for our place - sounds like a similar product. Price wise I think it is about $90sqm fully installed - I don't know what the sheet price is but the fixings, flashing, skimcoat etc will all add up (not to mention labour, unless you are installing yourself??). 650sqm sounds like a lot?? It must be a pretty big place (ours is 40 squares and we need about 300sqm of KoolWall). Good luck with it all and I'd be interested in what you decide to do. I personally prefer the polystyrene products with the mesh already attached. It provides a greater stability and wind rating (Thermawallplus,Masterwall, Koolwall). I'm looking at the Thermawall here in NSW right now but the current issue is the CSIRO certifications for all of these products is out of date since December since CSIRO stopped certifications therefore making it's validity as an alternative solution in the building code a bit harder to approve. This website also mentions Ceilite is a replacement for 3 products including wall wrap which is against other advice I've read. Cheers Peter Re: External Foam Cladding - Ceilite Insulation 4Mar 31, 2010 7:51 am thanks for the replys guys, any comments are welcome. Barnaszyk...what have you read regarding wall wrap? the info I have from ceilite is that they use a foil backing for the EPS sheet, thus eliminating the use of the plastic wall wrap. they also mentioned that they added a product to deter black ants from nesting inside of the panels, they also said that their urine can start to disolve the EPS. has anyone ever heard of this before? I do agree, they have limited info on their site, which is why im here asking for any info abou this style of cladding. Cheers J Re: External Foam Cladding - Ceilite Insulation 5Mar 31, 2010 9:22 pm I don't know about the foil backing, 1st EPS product I've heard with it. check out page 4 of http://www.thermawallplus.com.au/pdfs/5 ... 09_WEB.pdf regarding recommendation for breathable sarking also page to of http://masterwall.com.au/downloads/MW_S ... %201-2.pdf heaps of EPS info here (even though it is a push for Masterwall)- http://masterwall.com.au/techcentre_downloads.htm Re: External Foam Cladding - Ceilite Insulation 6Apr 06, 2010 2:58 pm I used Rmax's exinflex (meshed on one side) for two reasons - 1 - being they have a factory here in Perth to deal with (but the sheets came from the east) and 2 - the mesh over the whole sheet is applied in factory controlled conditions and not on a dirty dust construction site. I did my house about 2yrs ago now with all external walls (150 squ metres) being clad with the exinflex. The cost to supply only was $4,000 to which a grand was freight. To cut the sheets I found a diamond blade in a circular saw the best as the cementious surface of the sheets very quickly bluntened any thing else including tungsten tipped saws. Re my second point – yes exactly. And often it may take additional time if the manufacturer recommends no more than X meters… 3 5652 Oh no! I would use a can of expandable foam ( there are some that will take render) then cut it back and render over the top 1 4148 There is nothing in the various codes and standards that puts this requirement on the builder to do. I think that is what you are asking. Don't waste time trying to get… 5 2418 |
