Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Mar 03, 2010 10:26 pm Gday all, have been using all your tips and conversations wisely. As of this week have headed off to a local designer to do the brief on my new house. 906sqm block in Woy Woy on NSW Central Coast, block has existing house on it currently tenanted and i am looking at building a new two story as environmentally sustainable as I can afford/justify with a seperate self contained granny flat at rear!! Front of house faces North and living areas will be south as block is long and reasonably narrow(15.24) and want to look at rear yard not street, so of all things am interested as to how she will provide sufficient natural lighting. I think my brief was simple, passive heating and cooling, no A/C, possible hydronic heating, 4 beds! At this stage will be Owner Builder(friend doing the actual building,me doing the labouring, and electrical, being an electrician.) So wish me all luck, going to be on and off here for quite sometime yet! Ross Re: And so it begins!! 2Mar 05, 2010 5:04 pm Congratulations on becoming an owner builder! I love the idea of it being environmentally sustainable, no A/C is a goal for us as well! Good luck & look forward to seeing some progressive posts. "A dream you dream alone is only a dream.
