Hi
I'm a newbie here. We are wanting to build this year, and have been looking at the options. We went down to Nowra yesterday to check out the Timbercrete display house. Pretty interesting, all the things they have tried. The wooden beams they used are massive and awesome.
Although this might work well down at the coast, we are a bit concerned that Timbercrete might not handle the extremes of temperature in our region (-8 to 40+) - outside Canberra.
I'd be interested in any feedback from anyone living in a Timbercrete house in the same or similar climate, as to how much additional heating and cooling is needed for comfort.
We are thinking of hydronic heating and maybe reverse cycle hydronic cooling but still have to do the research on that - someone said it would cost us $70,000 which seems a bit extreme.
Also, if there are any architects, draftsmen or builders around who are familiar with it, and is it easier or cheaper to owner build than say one of the kit homes ?
Thanks
