Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Dec 19, 2009 4:02 pm Hi members, I'm at the very early stages of considering an OB. Can anyone help me understand what the process of events are and what tradespeople are required. I already have the land and plans drawn by an architect. 1. Do I now get a soil test and contour survey and then request a footing design by an engineering company? 2. What tradespeople do I need and in what order? Excavators to dig footings trenches? Do they concretors do all the footing related work or do they simply only pour the conrete? Who then do I need to lay down the mesh, etc? 3. Do I get the plumber to come in at this stage also? Any other advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Re: OB Questions - Please help 2Dec 19, 2009 7:27 pm newbuild Hi members, I'm at the very early stages of considering an OB. You need to get the engineers to produce an engineering specification for the foundation (footings), reinforcements, columns and lintels, etc, etc, based on your plans. They usually arrange a soil test before they start. Quote: 2. What tradespeople do I need and in what order? Excavators to dig footings trenches?
