Re: Installing 1300m2 of plasterboard 4Oct 10, 2009 9:13 pm elchagie is this price for labor ? Sorry, no. It's for supply only. Re: Installing 1300m2 of plasterboard 5Oct 11, 2009 12:30 am try going direct to the manufacturer its alot cheaper and most will deal with general public on big orders look in local yellow pages for your closest and should take you a week to install if you know what your doing gl stay safe happy building Re: Installing 1300m2 of plasterboard 6Oct 12, 2009 8:54 pm gettingThere How long do you think it would take (two guys) to install around 1,300 m2 of plasterboard? 2.7m ceilings walls - 900m2 ceiling - 370m2 As well of length of time, consider whether 2 guys can lift a 6m sheet of plasterboard easily. Ceilings are especially challenging, as are stair voids! My mate (a plasterer) and me just hung our stair void and I'm very very glad we are not doing the whole house ourselves. I have a team of 4 hangers who will hang our entire house in 1 day, supply and hang is $10.5k. JB Re: Installing 1300m2 of plasterboard 9Nov 03, 2009 7:47 pm Hi I am doing a similar project as we speek, and areas are about the same. It has taken me and a mate (mate has no experience, I have done some plasterboard work befor both personally and proffessionally) a week to hang the cieling. (I had estimated less, but there have been a few distractions and complications) Can I offer the following advice: 1. Hire a sheet lifter (about $200 for a week from Kenards Hire) 2. If possible get a sheet layout plan, or make one yourself to reduce wastage. (mine was all delivered in 5.4m lengths and I have lots of 2m ofcuts left, but this was out of my control) 3. Cut sheets for all rooms and stand them up (as vertically as possible) prior to hiring the sheet lifter. 4. Use big dopplos of glue (dont skimp- size of a wallnut) and use it in the spacings and techniques set out on the Gyprock website. (they have PDF's to download) 5. Minimise butt joints where possible, or hide them in built in robes etc. 6. Where butt joints are unavoidable, make sure they occure between framing and prepare back-blocking. Hope this helps. With time and care most people can do this job. Flushing on the other hand may be worth outsourcing if you havent done it befor, there is more of a knack with this, but a professional will probably do your whole house in a day (2 or 3 coats) Re: Installing 1300m2 of plasterboard 10Nov 04, 2009 9:56 am Hills Guy Hi I am doing a similar project as we speek, and areas are about the same. It is much appreciated. So flushing 900m2 of walls and 370m2 of ceiling can be done by one professional in a day? That is amazing! Totally worth getting a professional in if that's the case Re: Installing 1300m2 of plasterboard 11Nov 04, 2009 5:54 pm In the old days, doing it with a trowel and skimcoat took a lot longer, but the new machines make it so quick and almost foolproof with a bit of experience. Without seeing your plans and the standard of the finish you leave to be flushed, I wouldnt want to be held to the 1 day comment, but it shouldnt be too far off. Re: Installing 1300m2 of plasterboard 12Nov 06, 2009 12:23 am gettingThere Totally worth getting a professional in if that's the case It would be a very gutsy decision to do it yourself. It is pretty hard to hide gyprock and there is some skill & technique involved in getting a good job done. Re: Installing 1300m2 of plasterboard 13Feb 25, 2010 7:52 pm Hills Guy 1. Hire a sheet lifter (about $200 for a week from Kenards Hire) We are considering buying a sheet lifter... just in case it takes more than a week, in which case hiring it would probably work out too expensive... Ahh, so cheap, but none in SA http://shop.ebay.com.au/i.html?_trkparm ... p=16&_sc=1 Re: Installing 1300m2 of plasterboard 14Feb 25, 2010 8:03 pm Also, would you recommend ordering dimensions according to room sizes? As in, not getting all panels in the same size. I got a few plasterboard (supply only) quotes, but noticed that Bunnings quoted me on many different size panels. Basically, I sent them the plans and they sent me a list of what is required (and of course a total price). Or would this cause more confusions and problems than it's worth? Re: Installing plasterboard - going hourly rate? 15Feb 25, 2010 8:19 pm Does anyone know what the going hourly rate for installing plasterboard is. I am in SA but wouldnt mind hearing what other states are paying. Re: Installing plasterboard - going hourly rate? 16Feb 25, 2010 8:38 pm we dont go by hourly rate in vic. However plaster fully installed works out at about $13 per square meter finished. So a job like your will be around 18000 for a basic job. But then you probalby want fancy cornice or squareset. Perhaps you want battons, maybe you want then laser leveled and then maybe you want villa board. these are all extras. Thanks for that Re: Installing plasterboard and flushing - going hourly rate? 20Feb 26, 2010 9:37 am Anyone know how much they charge for flushing? I tried searching for flushing on yellowpages.com.au but only got 5 search results :S. What should I search for in order to find more "flushers"?
