Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Sep 25, 2009 4:33 pm Hi, I need some help with good companies that offer OB insurance during the construction stage. Who have you signed up with and what price did they quote you? I am contacting Build Safe as they are a common one, but need some more referrals. Re: Owner builder insurance? Who have you gone with? 2Sep 25, 2009 4:56 pm We went with FD beck. They were the cheapest. Re: Owner builder insurance? Who have you gone with? 3Sep 25, 2009 5:05 pm We finally went with GIO Insurance $1492 for $200K cover I shopped around a little bit - RACV wasn't playing, others were too complicated, asked a zillion questions good luck Jazz Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Owner builder insurance? Who have you gone with? 4Sep 25, 2009 8:19 pm We'll probably go with F D Beck as they gave a very good quote, plus it was very straight forward to obtain quote over the net. They replied to us within an hour. Dirk Re: Owner builder insurance? Who have you gone with? 5Sep 25, 2009 9:22 pm I went with buildsafe, was just under $1k for 200k cover 12mths ago. Just had to do a renewal for another 3 months as I'm not finished and it was almost $500. I've found them to be bloody useless on processing paperwork and getting back to me but I didn't have much luck finding anyone else back when I looked 12mths ago. I would have tried someone else for the renewal but didn't have time to go though all the paperwork again. The thing that pisses me off the most is on my $500 renewal, less than half is the actual premium. Between broker fee, 2 lots of gst, stamp duty and fire levy its cow manure. rant end... There are 2 lots of fees for similar things and the levies and brokerage fees. I was like Whoa! lol If someone gives me a better quote than them, then I will change but if I can get them to provide a better price...then I guess Id have to stick with them. Re: Owner builder insurance? Who have you gone with? 8Sep 27, 2009 6:09 pm We also obtained a quote via FD Beck's web site. It was very easy to use and not too many questions. I also checked to make sure that they could extend the policy if it takes us longer than 12 months to build. FD Beck didn't have any problems, but when I spoke to Buidsafe it all appeared to be a bit difficult. I also found some good information about insurance polcies on the Owner Builder Advice web site. Re: Owner builder insurance? Who have you gone with? 10Sep 28, 2009 6:20 pm Thanks for the great referrals. I have decided to go with FD Beck as they provided me with the cheapeset quote. I had never heard of them prior to your referrals. Home One Forum always comes in handy Re: Owner builder insurance?
