Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum Re: When do windows go in? 14Aug 30, 2009 9:19 pm Hi getting there,
just to dispell any myths...........the unequivical answer to your question is 1st...Timber frame completely finished, braced, level, straight and square, as the bricks are tied to the frame with steel ties nailed to the frame and bedded into the mortar, so wherever the frame is once the bricks are laid, there it stays. 2nd...Put all windows in and flash sides and bottom with dampcourse or similar, where possible, set all top heights the same as the brick layer will work to a full brick at the top of the window as he will need to set a L shaped steel lintel accross the top of the window to create a "seat" for the next brick course. 3rd... Bricklayer does the above..........he'll lay to a stringline so ideally the window tops will also be set to a stringline.......... hope that clarifies everything........
