Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum Re: Portico, garage and verandah setdown 50mm or 86mm? 5Jul 30, 2009 2:49 am Hi GT - like nomad said - i've used 86mm setdown for verandah from house slab with 25mm fall over 1.8 verandah width, under roof garage is at house slab level with 50 mm fall to the door & inset for roller/panel doors. i'd never have less than 50mm set down for shower areas. another thing u might like to think about is using standard bricks for "brickup" from footing up to house slab even if u use blocks on house wall - check slab to window heights to make sure these work to brick course levels. the reason why i use the standard bricks for first 3 or 4 courses off footing is that it gives brickies 3 or 4 morter courses to "catch up" or correct any uneven sections in footing levels. also standard bricks r stronger for cutting holes thru than blocks for service pipes. anyway thats just a little thing i've picked up over years where u have a "brick up" from footing, over here now, some project builders build footing & slab together & build straight off the slab on the outside wall.......beyond me how this gets approved...makes it damned hard for services....i like a 3 or 4 course brick-up, buts thats a bit old fashioned but gives u good room for juggling sewerage lines & fall. hope that hasn't confused u - go & have a look what others do & pick what u think will work best for u! cheers tony Does anybody who I can contact to adjust the portico on the ground to relevel the portico and roof? 1 832 Hi, I'll be starting on my verandah repair soon - replace ledger, rafters, roofing iron, flashing etc. (fascia board already done). My question is about the timber ledger… 0 3336 1 2992 |
