We have walls! 6Jun 27, 2009 5:36 am hunts01 Fantastic to see JB, any reason you used red tongue instead of yellow, is there any benefit or major difference??? Cheers It's cheaper! Although it costs more per sheet, it can span 600mm joists rather than 450mm joists so you need less steel. I estimate I saved about $1500 by using red tongue. JB Re: Walls! Walls! We have walls! 7Jun 27, 2009 12:29 pm Looking good. How much is the steel installation costing you? Re: Walls! Walls! We have walls! 8Jun 28, 2009 9:53 pm Thanks JB, we have had our excavation done last week, 22 truck loads, it is amazing how much soild comes out. If you have time can you give the dimensions and price the red tongue was, the only reason i am asking is I am installing the sheeting myself and the yellow tongue is bloody heavy, i thought the red tongue might be a smaller sheet. Cheers Re: Walls! Walls! We have walls! 9Jun 29, 2009 2:20 am HI JB great work, my eyesights not too good, i can't tell if theres much weld around the beams or how frames r fastened (tech screws perhaps) anyway i'm probably telling u to suck eggs, but i'd make sure u get a few pots of cold gal or the like & spot over anywhere where metal is welded, screwed or drilled so all bare edges r coated. cheer tony Re: Walls! Its very interesting looking at the steel footings and frames and comparing it to our wood ones. Do the steel frames fit neatly together? Or is there a degree of "massaging" needed? I know our wooden ones needed some talking to. Cheers, Pete viewtopic.php?f=38&t=8824 Re: Walls! Walls! We have walls! 12Jun 29, 2009 11:28 am PeterH That is looking excellent JB. Fantastic progress. All the walls have fitted together exactly so far except for 1 wall which is 5mm too big - currently sitting in the "too hard" pile! JB Thanks mate. Yeah good points!
