In order to tell whether that is a good price, I suggest you get 2 or 3 other quotes. I don't think anyone on here will be able to tell without seeing your house plans, feature level survey and soil report. The quote will depend on the variables in all of those. JB Re: my waffle slab Qoute 3Jul 08, 2009 8:02 pm There is truth in that JB.. $133 per sq mtr does sound xe. I need to know how many Cu's to work out the materials Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: my waffle slab Qoute 4Jul 08, 2009 8:33 pm hi I got a quote from Simonds today for a waffle slab as well and they are quoting me 19K. The depth of my slab is 425mm, height 300mm thickness 125mm. I do understand your feeling.. i am still shaken up.. What i really want to know whether i am being over charged!!! Better the slab be extra reinforced then the house crumble on a weak slab. Re: my waffle slab Qoute 6Jul 09, 2009 2:02 pm Our build was originally designed with a waffle pod slab but after speaking with a number of people (concretors, engineers etc.) we decided to do a conventional slab, they all said waffle pod is a cheaper way to go but if you intend on living in the house for a while conventional will prove to be a better option, stronger and less movement I guess. Our house is 487sm and have been quoted $57500 which includes 800mm of Drop Edge Beam and 32mpa concrete. Piers worked out expensive they were done on Monday with 101 piers an a total of 230 LM have not yet received the bill but about 12-14K of concrete i will never see . Just my 2c worth The Soil classification has little to do with piers. The purpose of the classing of the soil is to identify the clay content and the "average expected range of movement… 2 9815 Thanks for the insights, that makes perfect sense, and yeah, I will be leaning on the experience of the excavator operator entirely. 6 16043 4 6168 |
