LaFond-Lewis Re: starting my build 4Jun 30, 2009 10:47 pm Just one tip, we budgeted on our excavation simlarily then got the rude shock our house is on a 4 m fall and had an excavation of 8 x 7 m at about 1.5 deep and anther couple of cuts. The estimate and this was from a few companies so i trust it was on the money was about 170 cubic metres of dirt to be removed, i could not fathom how that little area could take 20 dump truck loads. Anyway after that shock, you have the issue of getting rid of the dirt, if you have no clean fill then you need to pay tip fees, say $5 a metre, plus tip truck hire at about $80 a day. Not trying to put you off, but just to give you heads up, if your excavator is charging $850 a day inclusive and getting rid of your dirt etc then thats sweet!!! Good luck with it all, you will find that most of the people that reply and offer advice / criticism on here have the best intentions at heart! Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 8 2234 thank you! do we need to get this or our builder before we commence new build on the block? 2 4419 |
