Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jun 04, 2009 10:44 pm Hi People, I'm a newbie to this forum and I'm very glad I found it. I am thinking of doing an OB in Perth. The house will be 2 storey using brick veneer (or possibly Hebel cladding) with steel frame inside. My questions are : 1. Does anybody know the current cost of bricklaying per 1000 bricks in Perth ? 2. I am looking at a ground floor slab of about 136 sq metres, does anybody have an idea of the cost per sq m for a slab in Perth ? 3. Has anybody used Hebel cladding or flooring and what is their opinion of the product ? Thanks in advance. The crew was exceptional, the best tradies I've dealt with so far. Beware of concretors. There're some VERY ******* ones around and fixing a slab problem's very hard and costs heaps, so choose carefully and don't go automatically for cheap. Practically everybody I talk to tell a concrete horror story. For ANY sort of frame construction you've got to have the slab square and dimensioned as per plans. The best way to achieve that is to get a surveyor to set up the slab and a specialist for formwork and have the granos to do ONLY the pour. It may cost a bit more, but it'd be worth it. Sorry for running off the mouth about the slab, but I was badly burnt.
