Re: how much did you pay for your floor covering and carpet? 4May 22, 2009 9:41 pm Maybe I got that wrong Or maybe I didn't - I know it is top of the range carpet from a very good brand so I know it was expensive, I just can't figure out if I remembered the lineal metre measurement correctly It is for 5 bedrooms upstairs, a small upstairs landing, a study and a formal lounge - so a fair bit of carpet. Re: how much did you pay for your floor covering and carpet? 7May 22, 2009 11:14 pm Haywgl, did you get a laying plan for the carpet, so U know where joins will be? I've had 2 measures from my plans with a variant of 7 lineal mts (52 & 59) with the latter saying more required so there are so many little joins everywhere. Generally speaking how do you know how many mts R needed - wondering if its possible to work out rough lin mts from square mts? Re: how much did you pay for your floor covering and carpet? 8May 23, 2009 1:00 am I haven't got the layout plan of the carpet yet, but a family friend is installing it and assures me he will try and make the joins as unnoticeable as possible.... I have no idea about how to measure m2, lineal metres or anything like that...sorry My karma ran over your dogma Re: how much did you pay for your floor covering and carpet? 9May 23, 2009 7:36 am we are looking at around 13 k for cork flooring for the main living areas and about 7.5K for carpets for bedrooms and the lounge Re: how much did you pay for your floor covering and carpet? 10May 23, 2009 10:12 am $10k for builder to tile main areas (around 100m2 I guess). Can't remember what the buy price of the tiles was. About $4.5 - $5k to carpet the bedrooms and office (about 65m2), with a nylon carpet priced around the $40 or $45/m2 mark. Sorry I don't know what the conversion to squares is. Re: how much did you pay for your floor covering and carpet? 11May 23, 2009 10:38 am I'll be building new house, but just don't want to let builders do floor & carpet, which probablely costs $20000 (double storey). However, I'm really not sure about the timing and budget for installation of timeber floor & carpet by myself..any advice ? I honestly think with carpet you do get what you pay for in regard to quality Re: how much did you pay for your floor covering and carpet? 13May 24, 2009 7:24 pm For carpet prices, try this site; ***weblink removed by Site Admin *** Justin of Sandringham, Vic Re: how much did you pay for your floor covering and carpet? 14Aug 11, 2009 8:15 pm I'm going with Tiles downstairs (I prefer tiles) and carpet upstairs but havent got to the stage of prices yet. I know my parents did upstairs (250m2) and some of downstairs (bout 230m2) and paid nearly 60k for timber flooring, but I def prefer tiles still.
