Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 May 19, 2009 3:49 pm Here're my, pretty mixed, O-B's experiences with tradies so far. I'm grading them on the scale from 0 to 10: - Earthworks - 9, very good - Surveyors - 5, average - Engineers - 4, not too good - Concretors - (-1), appalling!!! - Concrete repairers - 0, poor - Termimesh - 7, pretty good - Steel suppliers - 4, not too good - Plumbers - 6, so far, not bad - Electricians - 7, so far pretty good - Brickies - 9, very good! - Timber suppliers (frame and truss) - 8, good - Carpenters - 8, good I'll be adding to the list, as I progress. BTW, if anyone in Perth wants a pointer to the good and very good, PM me. I won't name publickly the bad ones though, it might be actionable Chris My father rode a camel, I drive a car, my son flies in a jetliner, his son will ride a camel.Saudi saying Re: My experience with tradies. 3May 19, 2009 4:30 pm Out of a sample of how many? ie. how many concretors, steel suppliers, and concrete repairers did you use or did you just happen to have a knack at picking cr*p ones?.... mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: My experience with tradies. 4May 19, 2009 7:24 pm Quote: how many concretors, steel suppliers, and concrete repairers did you use or did you just happen to have a knack at picking cr*p ones?. - adherence to plans, level and plumb - quality - punctuality - flexibility - cleanliness - attitude I've certainly picked up a rotten concretor (sorry C&D, but that's what happened, see my slab thread http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=12889) and not much better concrete repairer. Still, 2 stinkers out of 12 isn't very bad for a first timer. But hey, I’m pretty impressed with the good results so far. You have scooped. A little hint to all those reading this thread, a tradie is only as good as how you treat them…..MOST of the time. They have a spotless site loo, a small picnic table with old garden chairs in the shade, to have their lunches, etc. And if they do something well or extra, they get some lovely home made cake (DW's very talented in this department) and a slab of beer (after I've checked they did as they should've).
