Re: Electrical Costs ? 5Dec 27, 2009 2:03 pm Hi KW, i can't quite remember the details of ur block, but in my case i had to put in 280m of undergraound cable. it was 600 deep, in condute, after a lot of advice from respected sparkies & electric authority, we decided that with possible future development & just in case of any cable failure we'd split the load over 2 sets of 2 cables (4 wires) in 1 condute. material cost of cable was $9,600, condute, 2 X meter boxes at (start & end of line) sparkie & connection fee $16,000 total. on top of that we spent $2,800 on rocksaw, backhoe & dingo. quote for actual house wiring was $12,000 with us buying light fittings & fans. hope that gives u a few comparisions - cheers tony. Re: Electrical Costs ? 6Mar 04, 2010 12:51 pm You can save on electrical costs if you have an understanding sparky by doing such things as nailing the wall brackets for switches and GPO's. Of course digging the trench, never let the spark have to do it. Even you can run your own cable looping Gpo to Gpo is not hard. If you have a couple of Gpo's in each room bore through the timber and run the cable yourself. This of course works best if you have a spark on an hourly rate, if its a quoted job prob wont make too much difference but just have a chat to him, most tradesman that i know(I am a spark) will help you keep costs down where possible Thanks for info, yes met with Power Utility, Builder's Site Supervisor and Electrician on site and aligned on the mains connection. Seems like the builder and Electrician… 2 10037 Must be labour only. One of those how long is a piece of wire questions. 4 3300 |
