Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Apr 23, 2009 7:58 pm Hi guys I am currently in the process of deciding which steel frame company to go with. All the quotes vary so much in terms of what they include and exclude. I am just wondering how much your steel frame cost and what the sqm of your house is? Re: How much did you pay for your STEEL FRAME? 2Apr 23, 2009 8:01 pm We are building an almost 400sqm two storey house and the quotes vary beeteween $50,000 to $77,000 excluding installation and excluding structural steel. However, there is one quote which basically too good to be true at $50,000 including structural steel but excluding installation. Do you think this is possible? I've asked so many questions and tried to work out what the catch is but it still seems too good to be true :S Re: How much did you pay for your STEEL FRAME? 3Apr 24, 2009 1:19 pm gettingThere We are building an almost 400sqm two storey house and the quotes vary beeteween $50,000 to $77,000 excluding installation and excluding structural steel. I had 3 quotes, none include structural steel or installation. Our house is 415m2. 1. Technosteel - $61,000 includes absolutely everything, battens, stumps, screws, trim angle the lot. Also included a course on how to install myself. 2. XL Steel - $53,000 but did not include any of the sundries, stumps etc. 3. Steel Frame Solutions (J G King) - $29,000. Didn't include any sundries and didn't include the sub floors. I bought from Technosteel. I reckoned that if I bought from the others I would have to buy all the other bits elsewhere, so I might as well buy it all from them and save myself the hassle. JB Did Technosteel also supply the structural steel for you? They wouldn't do it for me Re: How much did you pay for your STEEL FRAME? 5Apr 24, 2009 6:04 pm [quote="gettingThere"] Did Technosteel also supply the structural steel for you? They wouldn't do it for me /quote] No. They don't supply structural steel. It's a different trade. Their product is an alternative to timber frames, the makers of which also don't supply structural steel! JB Re: How much did you pay for your STEEL FRAME? 6Apr 24, 2009 6:05 pm That's right. I remember seeing your other post I've found it now $61000 for the steel frame and $24000 for the structural steel.
