Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 May 06, 2009 9:28 pm I have booked my site scrape for monday and planning to get the surveyor out on tuesday to do the building set out. The quote for building set out is $650 and includes; (dodge the small bits if you want) Calculate dimensions and locations of building Set out all building corners for footings Placement of recovery marks Supply of set out plan Pin footings for external brickwork / slab Supply building set out certificate I thought while he was out there it would be a good idea to confirm i am going to be digging up my piece of dirt and not the next door neighbours so requested a quote to do the site survey. After all we have 4 pegs in the ground it should just be a case of confirming they are in the right places, right? Quote for site identification survey is $850 and includes; Cadastral plan search (what the hell is that?) Reinstate original property boundaries (they are still there) Placement of reference marks Draft identification survey plan Lodge copy of plan with the department of lands (i dont know if this is necessary??) Just wondering if anyone thinks that a site identification survey is really necessary as i think $850 to basically confirm 4 pegs are in the right place is a bit excessive. The estate is brand new and i am one of the first to build on it if that makes any difference. Re: Do i need to get the site surveyed? 3May 06, 2009 9:42 pm OK, great thanks. So measuring the diagonals will tell me the blocks square but what about whether they aren't all 200mm to the right of where they should be. (ie. someone made a booboo when surveying the whole estate) I guess that is my only concern, What are the chances of the pegs being wrong? Re: Do i need to get the site surveyed? 4May 06, 2009 11:16 pm im gathering no fences are up to determine perimeters in which case things can and do go wrong my ex mother in law had her house slab laid on the block next door to hers fortunately the builder owned both blocks so they just switched titles. if your not sure of your blocks boundaries in relation to your neighbours then id pay the money for peace of mind but only if your not sure otherwise bugger it save it stay safe happy building Re: Do i need to get the site surveyed? 5May 07, 2009 5:44 pm I've been told that if you are either building on the boundary or are putting up a fence, then it is recommended to have an indetification survey. Re: Do i need to get the site surveyed? 6May 07, 2009 5:46 pm By the way, it might pay to shop around. I've managed to find a surveyor who will do both an identification survey and building set out for $855 (including gst) Depends how much direct sun it gets. Is there any shading (eaves or trees)? If the sun hits a window directly it doesn't matter too much if it's double or single… 1 12647 9 24757 Congratulations! Nice to put that to bed before christmas, now you can relax 3 7134 |
