Ours is costing $1200, incidentally another company quoted us $2500 for the same job! Friends of ours being on a class P had to pay over $5000. JB Re: how did you charge for 5 star energy rating report ? 5Mar 29, 2009 2:00 pm Hi elchagie, remember there r a lot of variables in every individually designed house re type of build size etc. so to give u some more comparisions, here's my plan costs for my build (d/brick, metal roof - approx 430m2 being 250m2 living, 80m2 under roof garage & storerm,100 verandah - rural location):- Drafting $1,700 Ecco Rating $250 but in a few places on the plans were notation "to engineering specifications"... Engineering costs as James B says engineering costs r all over the place - be very careful & although these people r "professionals" i would always ask for an estimate for their work. for example my plans said "lintel to Eng. specification" one engineer wanted $1,000 but the chap who finally did it for me charged $275. another difficult bay window sections was also to "engineers specification" & the firm who i got a good price from to build the 9m lintel had their own "inhouse engineer" & he certified the whole section as part of the job - saved me $'s & they were happy to get the job. so hunt around a bit if u need engineering work. cheers tony Re: how did you charge for 5 star energy rating report ? 7Apr 04, 2009 10:33 pm Energy efficiency report $155 (and we got rated at 6 star ) Engineering (footing and slab) $302.50 Draftsman spec'd the lintels etc. and his costs for a full sets of drawings were $800 Re: how did you charge for 5 star energy rating report ? 8Apr 06, 2009 8:19 pm James Bond Hi there, engineering can cost vastly differing amounts, depending on your footing requirements and your structural steel. JB Yeah its sort of a "how long is a piece of string" type question unfortunately. My energy report was just under $200. Engineering was about $2600 which covered full comps & drawings, slab design (piers and suspended edge beams), tree root barrier and soil report (Class P). Upper floor is totally inside the ground floor so plenty of steel support as well. About 30 pages worth of comps plus all the drawings so I think I got something for my money! That is sooo cheap! Im jelaous /quote] Yeah, i think we've been pretty lucky to get it all done so cheap. I have used companies that have been recommended by my FIL (our builder) or other friends that have built themselves. I just found out we can down grade our slab mesh and can get rid of the piers as well. That should save a few $$$$$ Re: how did you charge for 5 star energy rating report ? 11May 19, 2009 7:36 pm Floor plan and architectural plans - $1,000 Energy rating - free with architectural plans Levels siteworks and drainage plan - $528 Site assessment (soil test) and footing report - $750 Structural steel engineering design and calculations - $3,000 If you already have a contract, is the inspection cost stated in there? If not they would be forced to issue you a variation which you could of course object to. 12 25844 go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110228 No the fireplace doesn’t work.
