Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum Re: how much Draft person will charge me ? 3Mar 17, 2009 7:25 pm ok i paid 800 for drafty 200 for 5 star report and i paid my own council fees and put plans in myself the drafty just copied my plans and sent me copies to give to council. Re: how much Draft person will charge me ? 4Mar 18, 2009 10:04 am I would love to know what draftie you used and what council you are in.
I checked about 5 different draftsmen and was quoted between 3000 and 5000, plus the permit which is related to your building value, which was about 1500. At the end of the day we didn't go with the cheapest just the one we thought would do the best job for us. Re: how much Draft person will charge me ? 5Mar 18, 2009 12:22 pm I also paid $800 ($3 per sq m, got a small discount for cash)
Have you designed your house yourself and how detailed are your drawings? If you are asking them to design it then obviously there is quite a large cost in this as they will have to do multiple options and get you to assess change as they go. But if you (as i did) draw up detailed to scale drawings with measurements then that cost can be reduced drastically. I can't believe the costs some companies are asking so it will pay to shop around, generally you will get better value using a small company. Dont assume because they havent got a big add that they wont do a good job. To pay someone to design your ideas, suggest different ideas, do all the liason with the council, organise the engineers report, liase with Project Architects governing the subdivision and changing the plans over 20 times adding different bits here and there i think it is more than worth it. Our block is 4.5 metres slope with numerous trees and have to build a three level split level house to accomodate it. The house has a cantilevered top level and cantilevered deck at the front. There are also numerous retaining walls that had to be designed. All im saying is that everbodys situation is different and I commend shelley, i had a look at her block and am very impressed with the level of work they have done themselves, definately couldn't do all of that! If you are skilled enough to draw them up to a degree where they are just transferred and tidied up then obviously it will cost less. But if you need alot more assistance or guideance that that will cost more obviously. My partner teaches graphic design and has done this type of stuff and when encountered by slopes and footing problems etc it was way to hard. If not they would be forced to issue you a variation which you could of course object to. 12 25863 7 11984 |
