I know of: Site Costs Plumbing Electrical Wiring But I have read about insurance while you are building etc? Is it expensive? Is there anything else I should know about? Re: Large Costs For Owner Building... 2Feb 21, 2009 6:12 pm Insurance is peanuts - from $900 to $2000 depending on overall cost of the project.

The unfortunate thing is that there are only three companies that do steel frames in Adelaide. One of them is really difficult to deal with as they only do SOME parts and not all, and they've also made mistakes every single time they've given us an updated quote :S The third company was even more expensive than the one we've decided to go with. We are expecting a final quote on Friday though, so not sure how much exactly it will be. Have you tried Technosteel in Geelong? They will deliver to SA. Mark will give you a quote against your plans in about 24 hours. They weren't the cheapest but sound like they might be cheaper than what you are currently being quoted, and they make everything except the structural steel. www.technosteelaustralia.com JB Re: Large Costs For Owner Building... 10Apr 14, 2009 6:57 pm also dont just stick to s.a most vic companies will deliver to s.a espeacially when your talking big bickies try places like bendigo warranambool ballarat you may be pleasantly surprised and could save 10 grand or more definately worth a phone call and 55c stamp stay safe happy building Re: Large Costs For Owner Building... 11Apr 14, 2009 8:07 pm Thank you guys ) I've emailed technosteel but was unable to find bendigo warranambool ballarat website or contact details Re: Large Costs For Owner Building... 12Apr 14, 2009 8:17 pm ok i got the bendigo details for you. they are "aussie steel house frames" 160 midland highway epsom bendigo ph:03-54484008 if you go to www.yellowpages.com.au key in steel house frames vic and you should be able to get some contacts there. also key in S.A just to see im sure there are more then 3 companies surely. hope this helps gl stay safe happy building Re: Large Costs For Owner Building... 13Apr 14, 2009 8:28 pm [quote="gettingThere"]Thank you guys ) I've emailed technosteel but was unable to find bendigo warranambool ballarat website or contact details /quote] Ballarat is Steel Frame Solutions (owned by J G King). Be aware that they make the inter floor between ground and first floor out of timber. In fact I think in VIC Technosteel are the only ones who will supply everything made from steel. They've even got a website: http://www.aussiesteel.com.au/ Thanks for that There are lots of steel companies in Adelaide but only 3 that I could find do steel freme for houses. The rest just supply steel once you provide them with a list of things you need. This is too much work as I don't wont to worry about ordering everything correctly and having to erect it myself Re: Large Costs For Owner Building... 15Apr 15, 2009 5:08 pm our biggest items so far: slab, bricks and brick labor, plumber, electrician, roof (to complete the whole roof is about 40K including timber, roofie, sheeting and roof plumbing). it hurts... Unfortunately they don't do structural steel but otherwise their quote was a lot better than all the places in South Australia (even including delivery). The only problem would be installation :S Re: Large Costs For Owner Building... 17Apr 17, 2009 1:57 pm James Bond gettingThere Thank you guys ) I've emailed technosteel but was unable to find bendigo warranambool ballarat website or contact details /quote] Ballarat is Steel Frame Solutions (owned by J G King). JB Re: bendigo warranambool ballarat If it's not too late try Max his email is mgow@steeline.com.au. He was pretty good and gave us a quote within a couple of days. However, they don't do structural steel. You would need to get it from elsewhere. That was my understanding. Hi gettingThere, I thought our quote from them wasn't bad but i was only basing it on the kit home price we got from a builder. Our new home is only single storey which should be easier/cheaper than a two storey but maybe I need to get some more quotes Can I ask who else in S.A. you approached? 4 4492 consider putting in wall WC instead of robe in the same bedroom, then it might be doable to hook up to the existing piping. 4 6628 Hi all, My first post, we are building a house and can’t decide the layout of the lounge room.
