As Shelley said, we had ours done as a whole job, not hourly rates. FYI, our 31sq single story (2.7 high ceelings) in inner melb: - Frame & roof truss installation by chippie $6500 inc additional timber and all materials (cost of pre fab frame & truss - $16.5k) - Plaster whole house (square set) inc blue board, insulation for walls & ceeling - $18k Cheers Ruth Ruth -Bought house in Melbourne inner burbs, knocked it down & now...we are owner builders! Re: Tradies' rates for framing, plastering & blueboardin 4Feb 07, 2009 3:16 pm ptw Does anyone know the current average tradies' daily rates for framing, hanging plaster sheet, finishing plaster and cornice, and hanging blueboard in Melbourne? For ~ $350 you can get a guide from Reed Construction on material and labours costs. http://www.reedconstructiondata.com.au/ ... costs.html Re: Tradies' rates for framing, plastering & blueboarding? 5Feb 07, 2009 4:04 pm Rerob they are pretty good prices. What was the quality of work like?
I've got a costing guide which give frame and truss installation at $15/m2 (floor area) And plasterboard supply and fix at $20/m2... WIth square set at $9 lin m... Electrical Engineer... Don't hold that against me... And keen owner builder... Mainly the building part!! Quality of work is excellent. The chippie we are using is a registered builder and he is really helping us out - we have used his contacts for the bricks & plaster and he is familiar with our surveyors and roof tilers which is good. He is a small builder and his english is sometimes a challenge, but the message gets accross eventually and his offsider's english is very good (they are from somewhere in the middle east) A bonus for us is that he built his own house around the corner from us last year so we have his home as a display home to show what he can do!! We are very protective of our relationship with him as he really has looked after us! We have found he is not greedy at all and neither are his contacts....We had no probs with frame inspection and plasterers are still working this week, so far so good. They are very hard working tradies - working on public holidays, after hours and on weekends is not a problem for them!! cheers Ruth Ruth -Bought house in Melbourne inner burbs, knocked it down & now...we are owner builders! It's handy to have some real world prices. I'm asking because I'm wary of industry price guides as I've had a fair bit of experience with car price guides in my work and they don't bear much relationship to the market. For example, the guide prices for the last four cars in my family were about 30% under, 50% under, 40% over, and 30% over market prices. And I would have loved to get anywhere near the trade-in prices they specify. If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8324 Elvis has left the building...
