Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jan 20, 2009 7:03 am Hi guys
Clearly as the OB I am going to have to put one of those signs outside the site with names and phone numbers of who the builder is and emergency contacts etc. Where can I buy one to fill in? Also could anyone advise me about what health and safety matters they had to plan for and deal with as an OB? I was thinking of getting tradies to sign a site orientation before they come on site which will state that they will abide by certain workplace safety regulations - not sure if anyone knows whether there is a template for this anywhere? Are there any other rules and regulations I need to be studying at this stage? Thanks for any help. Re: Signs outside your building site, OHS and other legal stuff 5Jan 20, 2009 9:30 am Took me 3 hrs and $1.2 to make mine. I grabbed an old internal door dumped on the verge. I cut the bottom half of the panels, leaving the timber frames in place. I calculated the number of letters (characters) and digits I needed. In the town library I photocopied in the A3 format the page of a 50mm tall font from a book on printing and fonts (that was that $1.20). I cut the rectangles with the letters and pasted them on the door using the wallpaper paste. Then I gave it two coats of a high gloss varnish. I sharpened the two lenght of timber door frame at the bottom and hammered the sign into the ground:

My building surveyor filled out the RBP template partially but I don't think that is the correct item to use for an OB. Guess I can just cross out the Builders reg no and put my OB number and contact. The rest of the bits are correct (surveyor details). The guy at the council seemed to think it was a $1k fine or so for not having one if caught? I think you'll find that they are definately required in Victoria...especially around Melbourne...there are alot of things that aren't policed by the commission or those that should, but this would be an easy pick for someone in authority who got out on the wrong side of bed...just a thought. Checked there, couldn't find anything unless you have a direct link? Which is why I tried calling them and going to the OB area....guy couldn't help and the area he flicked me too just dropped the call so fairly useless. I'm just going to use the one my surveyor half filled in and add the extra details, looks like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ BTW, found this which mentions penalties for OB's as well: http://hia.com.au/Channel/Content%20Lis ...
