Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jan 19, 2009 11:15 am I was driving past a home at Matraville and the owner builder had this sign on their fence.
www .doctor plumbing. com. au Plumber, Drainer, Gasfitter, Roofer He also provides Roofing & Gutter Installations I went to check his license on the Dept of Fair Trading website "license check" and it says:- The Licence authorises the holder to do Drainer Gasfitter LP Gasfitter Plumber And Roof Plumber It says their company is at Waterloo (Sydney) I am assuming he sub-contracts for the roofing & guttering part he advertises. I think that's O.K, as I do prefer to get an all in one sub-contractor (as long as he doesn't sub-contract too many different jobs) There is a similar one at Sutherland (They are situated closer to the block of land where I am building my O/B home) 1. Should I choose the closer one (i.e. they probaby charge extra for longer distance travel + petrol - Is it a lot? 2. What do you think about an "all in one" plumbing etc sub-contractor? Re: Plumber, Drainer, Gasfitter, Roofer - All in one? 2Jan 19, 2009 6:34 pm hi orange
i like the idea of one tradie being responsible for all those aspects - he won't be able to blame another tradie for any 'issues'. many plumbers are licensed to perform all these functions - check your local paper for some. good luck Re: Plumber, Drainer, Gasfitter, Roofer - All in one? 3Jan 22, 2009 10:28 am Yes, thanks for you response, I too thought it was a good idea, but wasn't sure.
I think it is a good idea because: Workflow would run more smoothly from one step to other i.e. plumber not needed to discuss anything with drainer because he is the drainer as well.
