Was wondering, does anyone know at what stage a party wall is to be built when building a duplex? Is it before the frame is put up? after the frame is up? It will be a double-storey duplex so should the party wall be built all the way up first? Also, the plans were drawn up with the wall being constructed of '150 Series Masonry bock, solid cored filled, N12 Vertical Reinforcing @ 600 CRS' what does this mean exactly? Thanks for all your help These are the blocks being specified, see link below; www.smartmasonry.com/library/21_16_TechDataOverview.pdf zepa solid cored filled These blocks are hollow, the specification is calling for the hollow voids to be filled with concrete. zepa N12 Vertical Reinforcing @ 600 CRS' This is reinforcing steel rods placed at 600mm centers along the wall to stiffen it up. Im assuming a structural engineer came up with this wall construction type? I reckon he's trying to stiffen this two storey wall up, so it dosent fall over. Hope this helps. Pat. Also, are masonry blocks filled with concrete necessary? would it be cheaper to use AAC like hebel?
