I recently went to talk to an electrician about the electrical and phone line connections for my owner builder project.
The thing is, I can't understand what he is talking about.
I do know a bit about ADSL, but since I haven't used it before, I don't know what the wall connection looks like. I do know that ADSL runs through the same wires as phone lines.
Anyway, I told him that I wanted 2 telephone lines. One upstairs and one downstairs + 2 ADSL wall connections for the computers, one upstairs and one downstairs. 4 lines in total. I am planning on using voip calls when I get broadband, but I also want the option of a phone line just in case I change my mind about voip. I also know that computers can communicate with wireless routers which you can attach to the computers
But he said "do you want a computer server in each room". I asked him 3 times, but he can't explain it properly and I don't know what he is talking about. I thought a computer server works with wireless connections to the other computers with a router, so what has that got to do with the electrical + phone lines in the wall?
Can someone please explain, as I have no idea what he is talking about
He was also talking about speakers built into the walls. Took me a while to try to understand what he was talking about, but I figured it out after a few minutes. As if anyone would get speaker wires build into their walls. A useless thing, just buy a speaker pack for your dvd player, same thing.
I am having a difficult time to understand all of this new technology things, as when I was younger, there weren't even mobile phones around, so yes, I do find some things confusing now.
