I haven't registered as an owner builder because I estimated the cost of my extension to be under the required threshold of $16000. My surveyor approved the budget. I am at lock up now and it looks like I might exceed this threshold, which means I should technically have been an Owner Builder. What should I do? Should I notify the surveyor? Will they check my costings? Seems strange to have to become an owner builder so close to the end of the project...Does anyone know what the consequences are if I continue without registering?
