You can also install some nice looking lighting strip into the same recess too. What is the width required for both sheer and black out curtain? Re: Recessed Curtain Pelmet in the ceiling 4Sep 14, 2021 7:31 am boneym I am doing a custom build. Just wondering if anyone can help me with the idea how we can achieve a recessed pelmet system in the ceiling as attached photo? Does it mean we have to drop the ceiling? If yes, how much? or it can be achieved by any adjustment of the joist or roof trusses etc.? Also how much width we need to leave for the sheer curtain and block out curtain to accommodate inside that recessed portion? So need to understand If there is anything we should do in this stage to have recessed curtain. Recessed so they go into the ceiling space. Note, you likely need to design it at engineering stage as your roof or posi truss will get in way. Any tips for someone who would like to have this done in their current home that's already been built? Does this require me to tear down our current roof and recessed lighting? Can you also add lighting to a bulkhead? (What exactly is a bulkhead lol?). I can't tell the difference from pictures between a bulkhead and a regular recessed curtain pelmet. Does it have something to do with putting up some sort of crown molding?
