What about licensed builders? If they are not signing off on anything (or designing anything) and only offering industry advice on best practice and guidance that comes from experience why would they need special licensing? It seems there is a potential service to owner builders missing that would be quite helpful. * Just a note - it's not something that I am looking to offer myself, but wondering why I can't find this type of consulting service. Re: Would you use an unbias owner builder consultant? 4Mar 16, 2021 4:07 pm Ask your Council building surveyor...they issue building licenses. Imo, the Issue is not who offers the best advice/guidance but rather if a problem arises ie, non compliance who is best to sort it out before it becomes not fit for purpose, a pull down job or at worse dangerous. BTW Builders and site supervisors are licensed in WA and you can hire both as an OB, but they will not override a Qualified Engineer and Building surveyor. The process is there to protect you from sh0nky Builds Cheers Chris Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Would you use an unbias owner builder consultant? 5Apr 15, 2023 9:34 am There is a company like this Owner Builder Specialists https://ownerbuilderspecialists.com.au/ Re: Would you use an unbias owner builder consultant? 6Apr 15, 2023 7:09 pm At the end of the day building a house is an individual thing.
