Hmmm... then again, it is a bit addictive... Today I finished off the kitchen kickboards, tested the dishwasher for leaks (none!) and put the monkey-tail handles on the foyer-to-hallway doors. I've got a small issue with the strike plate on that door -- there's a mushroom stop on the closing door, so the strike plate can't extend out past the face of the other door. Not sure how to resolve that... Re: My new house at Fern Tree, Tasmania 302Aug 16, 2014 6:58 pm First time I've read your thread. Thank you for sharing, love your build!! Re: My new house at Fern Tree, Tasmania 303Aug 31, 2014 4:54 pm Almost there Just finishing up the final bits and pieces before organising the removalists. The carpet was completed Friday (pictures coming soon) and I've hung all the internal doors and installed the door furniture. I also concreted the mailbox into the ground... the house is now a home! Very excited! Have ordered the new king sized mattress (bedsonline.com.au has some really good prices, fyi) and am moving boxes in whenever I travel out there. I'm trying to speed things along so it doesn't get too warm for a fire -- not sure I can wait until next Winter! Thanks everyone for the kind wishes. I'll get some proper photos of the interior done when it's set up. Will also need to contact the Grand Designs people -- they had wanted to take some shots for their magazine. I hope my furniture's good enough! Re: My new house at Fern Tree, Tasmania 309Sep 01, 2014 10:36 am Wow thats awesome! In a magazine... you'll be famous hehe Re: My new house at Fern Tree, Tasmania 310Sep 01, 2014 9:02 pm Amazing Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk Re: My new house at Fern Tree, Tasmania 312Sep 03, 2014 6:11 am Hi Johnson Fantastic result on so many levels, fabulous home, you enjoyed your build so much, the experience and a textbook case how owner build should be done. However there is economic price for everything and in owner build it's time away from work. Perhaps you can tell us how you mananged to juggle both. Did you take time away from work or did you just utilise extra time you have had? Was there lost income or lost business opportunity? The reason why I ask is because when I built my own home I took nine months off and during that time I wasn't contracting = lost income (no regrets). Yep, I did pretty much go part-time with my real job while I worked on the house over these past years. Not the kindest thing for my bank balance, but extremely rewarding. And much fun! The moving in continues, and now I need to install all the built-in cupboard shelves so I can put things away. In the mean time, here's a few happy snaps... I love all the attention to detail - and it looks like a lovely inviting home as well as being fabulous! Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk Hello. I just bought a few acres in Habana, Mackay, and my horses seem to love hanging around under this tree. I would like to name the paddock after this tree. Can… 0 9946 Fellow Perth dweller. Looks like pruns nigra. It's a dark leaf flowering plum. Doesn't get massive and is easily trimmed deciduous tree. Very popular in small gardens in Perth 7 3168 |
