You must have a lot of washing hahaha Re: Perth NOR OB on 5 Acres - Electrical Run in 143Sep 28, 2013 11:01 am Nope there is only the 3 of us - it's just for when I'm doing the ironing. I saw it and thought what a great idea viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Perth NOR OB on 5 Acres - Electrical Run in 144Sep 28, 2013 11:08 am Hana fair enough. I don't iron Re: Perth NOR OB on 5 Acres - draft pool plans arrived :-) 145Sep 28, 2013 12:13 pm AKB Warning this is me having a moan.....I hate being told I can't do something! I especially hate it when a shop assistant takes a look at you and makes a judgement call on what they believe you can and can't afford. I just went to a lighting store .......my electrician was pushing us to make some choices as he is doing the run in (both he and my dog are currently covered in brick dust)....anyway Dh and I went to get the lights that I want to go on by sensor down along the passageways. They also have some cheap chandeliers......which I was planning on putting over my free standing bath. DH always knew this has been the plan for the last two years but hates chandeliers. I show him the cheap one for approx $200 and he hates it - he does however like the Egyptian optical cut Chrystal one for approx $1000. Anyway original sales assistance tells me I can't put it over the bath when I ask for the price on a smaller one. No if's no buts. I say surely that's the decision my electrician has to make as he is the one who has to sign off on it. At the end when I still insisted on the price for the smaller better quality chandelier another assistant tells me I could have it over the bath as long as the drop is higher than 2.4m (good thing I increased the ceilings all through out the house). Anyway I think I'm over Chandeliers (Mainly because apparently someone did something similar on the block). PS My apologies for surely this is a first world problem moan. I was having a looksee over your post. Started off searching scullery and ended up reading from the beginning to the end and I wanted to commiserate with you on your "first world problem" My partner is a head chef and frequently is still in chefs clothing when we shop and because we usually do so in between lunch and dinner services on the weekends I'm in my weekend best of sweat pants , trainers and a tshirt. I have gotten some flak in stores like Meyers before but you would think in lighting and plumbing stores they would be used to trades men but no we have had moments were we were treated like scum on people shoes and one of the things that played a part in us dumping our first builder was the fact that they kept telling us about standard items when we would ask for something upgraded and follow up with " well this is cheaper". I'm from New York originally and you learn very quickly that how people dress is not indicative of how much money they have. I've seen people who live on Park Avenue come out in ratty cargos and tshirts but have the capability to buy a million dollar car without blinking their eyes. If i were you I wouldn't have bought a thing from there went and bought it somewhere else came back and asked to speak to the manager or wrote to the owner explaining why I did it and kept calm and carried on. Good on you for not pitching a fit. Decorate your home. It gives the illusion that your life is more interesting than it really is. I've tried everything to avoid it - Dropping it off to ironing ladies, getting it picked up inevitably whatever I need is always at the ironing persons place when I need it. These days I have one of those huge Steam irons and they work much better Winter Uniform for the boy is the 'old fashioned school shirt' and DH and I wear 'business shirts' with jeans 5 times a week It adds up viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Perth NOR OB on 5 Acres - Electrical Run in 147Sep 28, 2013 12:43 pm Thanks Bella I'm off to have a look at your thread especially your OH's thoughts on Sculleries...... Wow I imagine moving to Australia is a huge change from New York It is a big change but one that I am very glad I made. 3 years on I can't imagine ever moving back. I absolutely love it here and dare say I have blossomed. Our scullery is a work in progress and we have to sign off on the final plans. If you have a look a little latter I am going to post up ALL the stuff that has gone on since the last post including the new plans for the kitchen and Butlers / Scullery. I have to sign off on it on Wed so i'm doing some last minute cramming on homeone in search of anything I may have missed. Decorate your home. The best thing i can ever do for my DH is iron his work shirts. Usually he does it himself but if im ever feeling really nice and i do them, its like xmas when he sees them all in his wardrobe! A tv in the laundry is brilliant. I plan to put our ironing board and iron in one of the built in cupboards in the living room so i can just do it there. It really is something which needs to be considered when building! Good work akb! It's funny the things that you love - I always say to my DH - Don't buy me flowers simply fill up my car at the petrol station - It's a beautiful feeling when I get in my car and see the tank is full. I think it's left over from when I was driving the 4WD and it felt like I spent 1/2 my life at petrol stations (that and the fact that DS Montessori school was 35km away so we use to do a 70km round trip morning and night for 4.5 years until I came to my senses) viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Perth NOR OB on 5 Acres - Electrical Run in 153Sep 30, 2013 7:17 pm Ok another weekend......another weekend of staining window frames and doors it's sad when you look forward to going back to work in order to rest viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Perth NOR OB on 5 Acres - Electrical Run in 154Sep 30, 2013 8:11 pm So true! We had flashing installed all around the Lintels for the heads and the plastic pipes but in (see photo below) I have a photo showing the flashing when the inner brick course is done but not the outer but it wont up load to photobucket for me! (We have cleaned out all the cavities and weep holes as that was a time consuming job that we did last weekend until DH engineered an adaption for our blow Vac.)
